The State And Local Government Could 400,000 Jobs

(e3global)- I have a serious question is anyone really taken notice of how bad this will become within the next four years?

Today USA today has a round-up of some disturbing projections about just how many government positions will be eliminated by cash-strapped states. Mark Zandi, the chief economist at Moody's Economy.com, told USA Today that up to 400,000 Americans working for state and local governments could lose their jobs in the next year alone.

The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, a Washington D.C. think tank, puts the total job loss from state's cut backs at 900,000, including jobs eliminated by companies who do business with state and local governments.

The layoffs could accelerate if states are not able to make headway on a cumulative $141 billion budget gap projected for the next fiscal year. And, USA Today notes the stimulus is expected to fade by $55 billion over the next year.
